NCAA Tournament Betting Preview-Elite 8: Michigan Wolverines vs. UCLA Bruins – Tuesday, March 30, 2021

by Spooky Express | March 30, 2021 |

The Bruins will look to keep the unbelievable run by Pac-12 teams alive as they face Michigan in the Elite Eight. It has been the exact opposite for the Big Ten who has only one team left in the Wolverines.

The game will be televised on CBS at 9:57 PM Eastern. UCLA has emerged from the first four after defeating Michigan State, BYU, Abilene Christian, and Alabama. The Wolverines have been victorious over Texas Southern, LSU, and Florida State.

UCLA Bruins Betting Preview

The Bruins survived a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Alex Reese of Alabama to send the game into overtime. UCLA regained their composure and dominated overtime and won by the score of 88-78.

Johnny Juzang has been the goto player for Mick Cronin and the Bruins in the tournament. He has scored 80 points in the four games. Juzang had to watch the last three minutes of regulation and all of overtime from the bench after he fouled out.

Jamie Jaquez Jr. became the go-to player after Juzang fouled out. Jaquez leads the team in rebounds (6.1), steals (1.2), and blocks (.7).

Juzang leads the team in scoring at 15.0 points per game. Juzang can finish games at the free-throw line where he is shooting 91.1%.

UCLA is ranked 16th by Kenpom. The offense is ranked 11th in efficiency and the defense ranks 55th.

Michigan Wolverines Betting Preview

Losing Isaiah Livers seemed to be too much for this Michigan team to make a deep run in the tournament. Turns out this Wolverines team is good enough to overcome an injury to one of their star players.

The Wolverines dominated the Seminoles from start to finish in a 76-58 victory. Franz Wagner led Michigan with 13 points, 10 rebound double-double.

Freshman Hunter Dickinson leads the team in scoring (14.2), rebounds (7.6), and blocks (1.4). Dickinson is shooting 61.1% from the two-point range.

Wagner is averaging double figures at 12.8 points per game. He leads the team in steals (1.2) and is the second leading rebounder at 6.5 per contest.

Kenpom has Michigan as the 4th best team in the nation. The offense is 7th in efficiency and the defense ranks 8th. The Wolverines have the third-best defense inside the arc holding their opponents to 42.6%.

The Bruins defense has found a different level in the tournament. The problem is Cody Riley is about the only real big man on the team. Michigan features three with Dickinson, Wagner, and Austin Davis.

I think Michigan dominates the points in the paint. I anticipate this game being played at a slow pace, as both teams are at the bottom of the nation in tempo.

I like Michigan -7, but I think the best bet is the under 136. If you can get the Wolverines at -6.5 I would take it. I’m hoping the line moves in their favor before I bet Michigan.

Michigan 72, UCLA 65
